best-known and most highly regarded treatise on military strategy
yet written. Compiled well over 200 years ago, its principles are
as applicable to the boardroom as they are to the
battlefield.
Unlike many contemporary translations that have
focused too heavily on applying this military classic to corporate
conflicts, this definitive interpretation maintains the impact of
the original. Free of academic commentary and ambiguous metaphors,
Kaufman's translation uses straightforward prose to explain Sun
Tzu's message. Like the original, this new interpretation is
divided into thirteen sections, each presenting vital information
on military strategy ranging from assessing opposing armies and the
proper treatment of troops to the use of spies. Other chapters
include: considerations for war, preparations for war, the nature
of attacks, how to think during war, the reality of war, controling
territory, managing campaigns, and fierceness in combat.

Stephen F. Kaufman, Hanshi 10th Dan,
holder of the highest rank attainable in the martial arts, is an
acknowledged "Founding Father of American Karate." A motivational
speaker, self-defense expert, and author, Hanshi Kaufman has
studied Eastern philosophy for over forty years. He is the founder
of the widely recognized Dojo No Hebi (School of the Snake) and is
the author of The Martial Artist's Book of Five Rings,
The Shogun Scrolls, and Living Tao. He lives in New
York City.
