JAMES TREFIL, Clarence J. Robinson Professor of Physics at George Mason University, is internationally recognized not only as a distinguished scientist but also as an expert in making complex scientific ideas understandable. He is the author of numerous magazine articles and books on science for the general public, including National Geographic's The Story of Innovation. He lives in Fairfax, Virginia, with his wife.

形这颗行星每176个地球日绕轴自转一圈，每88天绕太阳转一圏。
哲学家阿尔库塔斯（前428-前327）给出了一个有趣的论点：宇宙一定是没有边界的。他认为，假设宇宙有边界，那么一个人就可以走到宇宙的边界，并向外投掷一支矛。这支矛会落到什么地方？其下落的地方将会在边界之外。而无论边界再怎么远，这个“掷矛者”总能找到边界外的一些地方。因此阿尔库塔斯认为，宇宙一定没有边界，一定是无限的。
